BANE: 4 figure studies
4 Banes based on my thumbnails I decided to give them a "class" like in a video game. So we have Beserker, Commando, Strategist, and well...the generalist, overall well rounded Lean and Mean. =)

Bane Head Studies
I wanted to design a more original Bane head without the mask, but it was a bit challenging, so I decided to focus on his signature mask. I saw Bane as being a bit of a tinkerer who had the ability to make some home brewed helmets/masks. His designs are crude and grotesque, resembling stripped down prototypes. My original thumbnails called for a tank or rig he carried on his torso/back, but since these were head studies, i decided to try and design a mask/helmet system that delivered the venom instead. The first page was a bit conservative, so i made a second page where I kit bashed them to make some what more wilder designs. After all, I guess its to make sure I shake out all the bad ideas. =) The last page just shows Bane without the mask. I wanted him to look a bit reptilian with thin slit like eyes. He should look like a brain-dead thug, but actually is super intelligent. Not sure if that came through.

BANE thumbnails
I thought Bane was too often portrayed as a wrestler I decided to keep the mask , but change it so it becomes a gas mask/helmet or a device that facilitates venom inhalation. I was thinking the Venom could be vaporized and he could inhale it. Some helmet designs have concentrated tubes of venom which are inserted directly into his head. I thought this would eliminate the possibility of an accidental overdose, such as what occurred in Batman the animated series. I also struggled to get rid of those venom cables we often see on Bane because they don't make sense on a practical level when fighting. However, as you can see, I couldn't resist the aesthetic. I also struggled with trying to make Bane more lean and less brutish. He's a master strategist, so i thought making him less hulk-like would be a different approach to make him seem more intelligent. Of course i did give in to a couple brutish silhouettes, just to explore that. In some cases, I added alot more gear on Bane's body for processing the venom. I thought the traditional Bane had a very elegant/simple drug delivery system, so I wanted to explore making it more complicated, maybe even crude and frankenestein like. I added padding and armor to his uniform as extra protection when he wan't using Venom. I thought maybe prolonged usage would kill him, so if he can handle his opponents without Venom, he'll do it.

DBR's SYMPHONY FOR THE DANCE FLOOR
About this project
"I need you to help me make this piece... I need you to help me build this show... I need you to be my record label for this CD... I need you to help me create something new and wonderful... This Kickstarter campaign is how we can build this piece together. I want you to be a part of this.I can never thank you enough. I thank you for supporting the work, supporting the music, supporting the performers who are always around me. SYMPHONY FOR THE DANCE FLOOR is another way for me as a composer and as an artist to express myself, and you are a very important part of that. I appreciate you being there, and, in some ways, dancing with me." -DBR
Known for bringing audiences to their feet with sonic collages of classical, pop and hip-hop sounds, DBR ushers the concert hall and dance club into the theater with SYMPHONY FOR THE DANCE FLOOR. Centered around the shrieking, singing, and seduction of DBR’s violin playing, the production is augmented with masterful collaborations including: choreography by Millicent Johnnie (former resident choreographer of Urban Bush Women); ebullient live dancing; bombastic laptop/turntable soundscapes; raw, uncompromising photography and video by Jonathan Mannion (best known for his soul bearing portraits of hip-hop icons Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def and Eminem); and emceeing by actor/rapper Lord Jamar (member of hip-hop group Brand Nubian and former star of HBO’s Oz) – all under the direction of D.J. Mendel.
Here's the tees for the concert. See the show, buy the tees! Thanks for the fun job Rika! http://sozomedia.wordpress.com/

Mila: Ulfsark Princess
Inspired by Dreamworks' How to Train Your Dragon, I decided to create my own vikings. Ulfsarks are legendary viking warriors who went into a batlte wearing wolf pelts and were known for their beserker rage. Mila is the daughter of Vlog Rock Cutter, King of of the Ulfsarks. As the only child of Vlog, she does her best to live up to her father's expectations and the fierce Ulfsark traditions. However in her heart, she wants to be an artist. In the evenings, she secretly seeks out caves to carve dragon sculptures out of massive stalagmites with her ax.
