BLUBLU

http://blublu.org/sito/blog/

An incredible artist whose work I think shows a dedication to his craft. There's something attractive about seeing the blood sweat and tears in the work. Its the same reason I can stare at a Velázquez's globs of 360 year old dried paint for hours.

Rough Fruit Coffee Mug study

Painting and drawing on the computer is more efficient in our business, but the pleasure of a physical brush hitting a surface and spreading paint shouldn't be underestimated.

Then you have the spuds of extra paint left on your palette. In photoshop you can just hit delete. In the real world it's a bit messier. So why not recycle that left over paint and create a spiky demon? Amazingly, my cheap sketchbook accepts paint really well.

THIS EVENT IS FULL. ALL RSVPS RECEIVED AFTER WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 3PM WILL BE ON THE WAITLIST.

Cellist/Trombonist/Composer Dana Leong fuses hip-hop, jazz and digital music to create a signature infinite sound. Often referred to as a "hi-def Yo-Yo Ma," Dana has revolutionized the cello with his cutting edge amplification, lyrical melodies, and collage of jazz textures and improvisations.
As an official Yamaha sponsored artist ambassador, Dana's pioneering fusion of digital music and ethereal jazz sensualities has garnered critical acclaim and wowed audiences worldwide.
In this autobiographical lecture and performance, MOCA’s new Composer-in-Residence Dana Leong explores the ties between the different worlds of recording, performing, touring, and producing music in multiple genres, balance between business and art, and his recipe for success. Dana will also discuss the inner-workings of his life as a successful independent musician living and working in New York.

Figure Drawing Art Dump

The brain gets sluggish when you haven't used it properly in a long time. Figures using copics and pencils. Next week I'll experiment with copics on charcoal paper, an unholy combination that may yield some messed up tips, but may also result in some cool new textured drawings.
